Acupuncture and Herb

We specialize in adapting ancient medicine modalities for modern health care. The bridge to health is a continuous journey, and we help patients reach their health goals through preventative and restorative Oriental medicine. We utilize various Oriental modalities such as acupuncture, cupping, herbal supplements, nutrition, lifestyle modifications, and many more to assist you on your quest to restore balance in the body. These techniques can be used to assist in the treatment of a variety of conditions.

Acupuncture and Acupressure

Acupuncture involves the insertion of hair-thin, sterile needles into different points in the body by licensed, trained acupuncturists. Traditionally, acupuncture attempts to stimulate the meridians (think of them as energy pathways) in the body so it can balance itself. Needles are inserted into acupuncture points throughout the body which are connected by the meridians, and it re-establishes the body’s ability to transmit messages. It’s believed that the body has an innate mechanism that allows it to balance and heal itself, yet injury, illness, stress, and lifestyle choices can create blocks and imbalances.

Electro-acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture therapy is a technique that is done by inserting the acupuncture needles in the scalp or body and then connecting the electro-machine to stimulate the acupoint. Use electro-stimulation instead of hand stimulation to treat disease.
Use electro-acupuncture for conditions such as headache, dizziness, tinnitus, deafness, seizures, chorea, facial spasm, hysteria, stroke, or aphasia.

Auriculotherapy

Ear seeds work by putting light pressure on specific acupoints on the ear to stimulate that point, auriculotherapy is very similar in effect to that of acupuncture by way of activating your energy meridians. In TCM, the ear is a microsystem of the whole body with dozens of pressure points ready to transform body and mind. These points have healing properties such as calming the mind, boosting immunity, reducing pain, rebalance endocrine system and more.

Cupping

Cupping involves creating suction on the skin using a glass, ceramic, bamboo, or plastic cup. Negative pressure is created in the cup either by applying a flame to the cup to remove oxygen before placing it on the skin or by attaching a suction device to the cup after it is placed on the skin.

We have four main cupping treatments performed:
  • Air cupping: a suction-only method
  • Fire cupping: may involve both suction and controlled medicinal bleeding
  • Running cupping: involves moving suctioned cups around the body after applying oil to massage the desired area
  • Flash cupping: involves quick, repeated suction and release of cups on an area of the body

Cupping has also been used for back and neck pain, skin diseases such as acne and hives, lowering cholesterol, headache, knee arthritis, sport injury, improving immune function.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health. It works through the sense of smell and skin absorption using diffusers, massage, and topical application at our clinic.

Infrared light therapy

Infrared light therapy is a treatment that may help skin, muscle tissue, and other parts of your body heal. It exposes you to low levels of infrared light which is a type of energy your eyes can’t see, but your body can feel as heat. A part of your cells called mitochondria, sometimes called the “power generators” of your cells, soak it up and make more energy. Some experts think this helps cells repair themselves and become healthier. This spur healing in skin and muscle tissue.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicines are those with active ingredients made from plant parts, such as leaves, roots, or flowers. Depending on your condition, we will prescribe raw herbs or powder or pills with active ingredients to help you and enhance well-being.
